BIR launches  online registration

The Bureau of Internal Revenue recently launched its Online Registration and Update System, an official said.

In a statement, BIR described ORUS as a web-based system designed to give taxpayers a convenient and alternative facility for end-to-end processing of their registration with the BIR.

"ORUS is one of the BIR's priority projects, aligned with this administration's agenda regarding digitalization and automation of processes, which will make it easier for taxpayers to comply with the BIR's registration requirements," BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. said.

ORUS rollout

With the rollout of ORUS, the following online service functionalities are initially made available to taxpayers:

To use the ORUS facility, taxpayers must first enroll or create an account in the system by providing an official or valid e-mail address.

In addition, taxpayers must also update their registration records, such as e-mail address and contact information, using the S1905 — Registration Update Sheet pursuant to Revenue Memorandum Circular 122-2022.

As part of preparations for the nationwide rollout of ORUS, the BIR, through its Public Information and Education Division and Taxpayer Service Programs and Monitoring Division under the Client Support Service, has conducted a virtual Taxpayers Briefing on ORUS and internal briefings for all concerned BIR officials and personnel.
