Honeymooning tourists who were also sightseeing at the Machu Picchu in Peru got a rude awakening from the sudden political upheaval in the South American country.
American couple Morgan and Jack Fox were among foreign tourists who almost got stranded in the Andes Mountain where the heritage site is located, as supporters of ousted president Pedro Castillo protested his impeachment and demanded his release from detention by putting roadblocks on highways, according to WTNH.com.
"Just about every 100 yards, there was a telephone pole or boulders or trees or fires in the middle of the road," Jack said, adding that cars couldn't get through.
The Foxes and other tourists struggled to reach Cusco City where they waited for the reopening of the airport that had been damaged by protesters before reaching the capital Lima and flying home from the airport there last weekend.
If there is anything they learned from the romance-busting experience in Peru, the couple told WTNH that it strengthened their relationship in terms of facing challenges together.
Meanwhile, British singer Brocarde had complained about her bad marriage holiday with her husband.
In her social media post, Brocarde claimed that Edwardo ruined their honeymoon by allegedly drinking too much in a Wales hotel and making her pay for everything, according to New York Post and Daily Star.
"Edwardo obviously doesn't have a bank card so it is always me that has to pick up the tab everywhere we visit…and he certainly likes to go wild in our hotel room minibars," Brocarde said, adding that liquor bottles are always mysteriously left empty, NYP reported.
Brocarde described her husband as a ghost from Victorian England that she met when it appeared in her bedroom one night.
Incidentally, the singer's narrative came as she released a brand-new single called "It's Christmas again" which details what it's like to be the wife of a ghost at Christmas time, NYP reported.
