The Commission of Appointments on Tuesday confirmed the ad interim appointment of Jose Rizalino Acuzar as Secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development after deliberations by the CA committee of human settlements and urban development.
Acuzar said he will push for the provision of shelters to informal settler families "already living and working in cities to remain in close proximity to their livelihood."
"I am grateful and honored for the President's trust and confidence that I can make it happen through my leadership of the country's primary government agency in the management of housing, human settlements, and urban development," he added.
Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go expressed support for Acuzar's confirmation, urging the latter to continue the DHSUD's push for sustainable and comfortable living conditions in the country.
Senator JV Ejercito also said Acuzar is the right person for the job in making sure DHSUD will work for the success of the country's housing program.
Senator Migz Zubiri said legislators are hoping to see massive housing programs and the turnover of human settlements projects under Acuzar's watch as head of the DHSUD.
