BTA concludes Sulu consultation
Elected officials of Sulu have actively participated in the four-day consultation held at the Sulu Area Coordinating Center in Patikul, Sulu.

JOLO, Sulu — Members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has ended its four-day public consultation on BTA Bill 29 and BTA Bill 30 which are the proposed BARMM electoral code and the proposed Bangsamoro Local Governance Code, respectively.
Member of Parliament deputy speaker Benjamin Loong disclosed that elected officials of Sulu have actively participated in the four-day consultation held at the Sulu Area Coordinating Center in Patikul, Sulu.
Loong also expressed his gratitude for the courtesy and support extended to them by Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan during the four-day consultation forum.
MP deputy speakers Atty. Nabil Tan, Atty. Jose Lorena and MP members Engr. Don Mustapha Loong, Abdulkarim Misuari and Tarhata Maglangit have also expressed their sincere gratitude to the provincial government here for extending them their full support during the consultation.
The MPs also expressed their gratitude to every sector that participated in the public consultation, especially to His Royal Highness Sultan Muedzul Lail Tan Kiram of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo and the first lady of Sulu, Hja. Nurunisah Tan.
The BTA Bill 30 seeks to provide public accountability and transparency, a clear direction between the local government units and the Bangsamoro government.
"We are confident that you are here to listen and hear us, and assure us that this will be demonstrated in the final drafting of these codes, such as the local government code and other codes," Tan said.
Vice-Governor Abdusakur Tan II also expressed optimism that BTA Bill 30 will deliver basic services to their constituents, such as agriculture, health, social and environmental.
Some of the major comments raised during the consultation included the issue of clarifying the provision on devolution, strengthening the measure on anti-dynasty provision and preventive suspension of government officials, Educational Requirements and terms of office for elective officials, computation of share taxes and Internal Revenue Allotment and the provision on the protection of children.
