Not all babies are born in the hospital. Some didn't make it on time to the hospital and were born while on the way there.
When pregnant Tracy Cooper of Greenwood, Nova Scotia, Canada started laboring on 24 November, there was no available ambulance to take her to the hospital so her husband decided to drive her to Kentville, CTV News reported.
The baby, however, was coming out fast and Tracy told James to pull to the side of the road. He then waved to the driver behind them. Social worker Kim Fortune stopped to help the Coopers.
James called Emergency Health Service and a medical staff gave instruction on how to deliver the baby through the phone. Fortune delivered baby Emma in the front seat of the car before the ambulance arrived.
The couple was very thankful to Fortune for coming to their rescue.
The case of Viola Fair of Jennings, Missouri, USA was different. When she started laboring at home on 23 October, she had her daughter call 911 to get help.
Dispatcher Scott Stranghoener of the Central County Emergency 911 answered Miracle's call and, upon learning of the emergency, gave her instruction on how to deliver the baby while the ambulance was on its way, according to CBS News.
Miracle's sister Jayla safely came out and Stranghoener congratulated her for doing a good job.
The fire and rescue team and EMS arrived at the scene within minutes and took Fair and Jayla to the hospital, CBS News reported.
A month later, the local fire and rescue team honored Miracle for her bravery. She was awarded with a special certificate and a stork pin, which is given to emergency responders when they deliver babies in the field.
For 10-year-old Miracle, successfully delivering a baby at such a young age was a feat worth the recognition.
