Cryptocurrency meets food in Bored & Hungry, a burger joint and the first Non-Fungible
Token-themed restaurant to pop up in Manila.

Based in Long Beach, California, it takes after the Bored Apes Yacht Club, arguably the most famous NFT collection today.

Oscar Tan-Abing of Anotoys Collectives invited Andy Nguyen of the Food Fighters Universe food group to come to Manila for the Philippine Blockchain Week series of talks.

Nguyen decided to give local foodies a taste of what Good Morning America claimed the "best burger" in the United States.

Nguyen, with fellow restaurateurs Philip Huynh and chef Fernando Valledades, run Bored & Hungry, which has 50 branches in the US.

It's inspired by Valledades'

Texas-based concept Trill Burger.

The Daily Tribune hot-footed it to The Grid Food Market at Rockwell Power Plant to try the limited offer and see if it's worth the hype.

We ordered the Bored OG Burger, which is two 2.5-oz. patties initially rolled like a meatball and then flattened and smashed on the griddle until it's seared to a bacon-like crunch. The burger was served with pickles, a generous serving of white caramelized onions, American cheese, and a secret sauce.

The result was crunchy, juicy, comfort food heaven. The meal came with heavily seasoned fries and canned soda.

However, it's pricey at P795, considering the location is a food court.

There are exploratory talks to open Bored & Hungry in the Philippines, especially after it sold almost 1,000 burgers in its two-day run.
