Bay Area has to decide who between Myles Powell and Andrew Nicholson will serve as its import in its quarterfinal battle in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner's Cup.
Dragons assistant coach Cholo Villanueva admitted that they have yet to make a decision as they are still studying who between the two former National Basketball Association campaigners could help them beat the survivor between NLEX and Rain or Shine in the playoffs.
"It depends on which team we're going to face and that's the only time we're going to make a decision," Villanueva said in a telephone interview.
NLEX and Rain or Shine, who are clashing at press time, present different looks to Bay Area.
The Road Warriors have a reliable import in Earl Clark, who is regarded as a mobile big man, a dependable scorer, rebounder and rim protector.
The Elasto Painters, on the other hand, have Ryan Pearson, a smaller reinforcement who plays the small forward spot.
But it's only after the playoff match where the Dragons coaching staff will make a decision whom between Powell and Nicholson will be used in the coming quarterfinals where they enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage.
Villanueva said both imports were pushing each other to play their best during practice sessions.
"We're coming off a break, but we're not really on a break because we were preparing for the playoffs," Villanueva said.
"Both imports were really pushing each other. There were times they were included to different groups and there were times they were playing together as we're also preparing for the coming East Asia Super League."
In the EASL, both Powell and Nicholson can play together unlike in the PBA where only one of them can see action.
Powell is the smaller between the two imports. He barely stands at 6-foot-2 but is regarded for his explosive games.
In fact, he made a strong impression when he bannered the Dragons in their first four matches.
Nicholson is standing close to 6-foot-10 and provides Bay Area a solid inside presence but can also knock it in from the three-point region.
He also played four games but lost two of the four times while reinforcing Bay Area.
