President Bongbong Marcos on Wednesday urged the Filipino nation to emulate Andres Bonifacio's patriotism as he led the commemoration of the 159th birth anniversary of the revolutionary leader from Tondo, Manila.

The President said the country's modern-day heroes have shown that every Filipino has the ability to do good for others and society.

Dubbed as the "Father of the Philippine Revolution", Bonifacio was born on 30 November 1863.

He was the founder and leader of the "Kataas-taasang, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan" or KKK—a secret Philippine revolutionary movement that led the revolution against Spanish colonizers.
