Rebel attack  kills 3 CAFGU

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao — The Philippine Army reported that three Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit members were killed following an attack staged by two individuals believed to be members of the New People's Army in Buldon, Maguindanao del Norte.

Philippine Army 6th Infantry Division spokesperson Lt. Col. Dennis Almorato disclosed that the CAFGU members were part of the Army unit securing the bridge damaged by Severe tropical storm "Paeng" last month in Barangay Edcor, Buldon town.

Citing field reports, Almorato said the gunmen arrived on a motorbike and opened fire on members of the CAFGU unit and fled toward the hinterlands of Barangay Nuyo after the attack.
