In the recent United Nations Human Rights Council's fourth Universal Periodic Review of the Philippines in Geneva, Switzerland, rights groups, militants, and critics backed by their Western financiers ganged on the country for what was claimed as the deteriorating human rights situation.
These conceited groups were silent when it comes to atrocities of communist terrorist groups responsible for the 24 November mangling of the bodies of two Philippine Army intelligence officers in a Negros Occidental ambush.
Investigators said New People's Army rebels gunned down two non-commissioned officers of the Philippine Army's 47th Infantry Battalion who were on a reconnaissance mission.
The attack was brutal since the victims bore bullet wounds and lacerations on different parts of their bodies.
The soldiers were ambushed in apparent retaliation to the death of a high-ranking NPA commander in a gun battle with the military four days before.
Different groups and local officials denounced the incident as a cowardly act of the rebels.
The communist ranks are dwindling after the previous government launched the whole-of-nation approach where negotiations were localized resulting in mass surrenders.
Atrocities happened elsewhere such as in Eastern Samar where another two soldiers tasked to monitor the implementation of government projects were killed in an attack.
Former communist guerillas revealed that their former comrades use prohibited anti-personnel mines which are planted around their lairs.
"Despite our successful operations and other commendable milestones in promoting peace, it is still infuriating and saddening to hear these kinds of news," said National Security Adviser Clarita Carlos, who is also vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
According to Prosecutor Flosemer Chris Gonzales, spokesperson of Region 6 ELCAC Legal Cooperation Cluster, "these killings are senseless, unjustified, and serve no purpose other than to affirm that the CPP-NDF-NPA is a terrorist organization that has brought misery, suffering, and death to our people."
Former President Rodrigo Duterte offered an olive branch to the insurgents and even gave them seats in the Cabinet but their deceit ended Duterte's patience with them and along with it, the negotiations for lasting peace.
Duterte lashed out at the deviousness of the communists when they took advantage of the peace negotiations to recruit members while they continue to attack members of the military despite a ceasefire deal.
The peace table was overturned in March 2019 after Duterte was infuriated by an ambush of soldiers who were delivering medical aid to Aurora province.
The rebels' allies who hide as rights and cause-rented groups have been shouting against abuses allegedly committed by the government at the first opportunity they get.
Even the government's Commission on Human Rights falls short in looking into the savagery of the communist movement.
The bleeding hearts, as Duterte referred to them, are selective in demanding the respect of rights which always favors the enemies of the government.
The acts of violence the CPP-NPA-NDF commit against this nation and our people deserve condemnation.
