Hit Korean romcom to have Thai remake

Baifern Pimchanok and Win Metawin will star in the Thai remake of top Korean romantic comedy series My ID is Gangnam Beauty.

The show, Beauty Newbie, is about a girl who is bullied for her looks and undergoes plastic surgery. With a new persona, she attends college and meets a handsome student whom she falls in love with.
Im Soo-hyang and Cha Eun-woo originally played the leads in the Korean version.

Joining Pimchanok and Metawin in the cast are fellow Thai actors Fah Yongwaree Anilbol and Great Sapol Assawamunkong.

Metawin and Anilbol co-starred in the 2021 hit series F4 Thailand as Kevin and Mira.

Pimchanok is known to Filipinos for starring in the 2010 romantic comedy movie Crazy Little Thing Called Love as Nam, a 14-year-old high school student who falls in love with her senior Chon (Mario Maurer). She desperately tries everything to catch his attention.

Beauty Newbie is among the new shows Thai television production company GMMTV has lined up for 2023.

It will be directed by Mai Aticha Tanthanawigrai (Girl From Nowhere, Hoh Family, Sucker Kick).
