Illegal aliens nabbed

The Bureau of Immigration revealed that its operatives arrested four foreign fugitives wanted for serious crimes in their homelands.

BI commissioner Norman Tansingco said the four foreigners — two South Koreans and two Chinese nationals — were apprehended on 25 October and 2 November during separate operations conducted by the BI Fugitive Search Unit in Pasay City and Oriental Mindoro.

Tansingco said that on 25 October, BI operatives arrested 52-year-old Korean Ko Chang Hwan inside his condominium unit in Pasay City. Ko is wanted in his country for importing illegal drugs.

According to the BI-FSU, Ko is subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Suwon district court in Ansan, South Korea where he was charged with violating his country's narcotics control act.

Another South Korean — identified as Min Seokchul — was arrested for overstaying in the country since 2018. He was inside Ko's residence when he was netted.

Meantime, Chinese nationals identified as Lu Changyong and Lu Changxin — both wanted by Chinese authorities for significant fraud — were arrested by a squad of BI-FSU agents on 2 November at a beach location in Puerto Galera.

The public security bureau in Jilin, China issued arrest orders for the two fugitives according to the Chinese government for engaging in contract fraud in violation of Chinese criminal law.

The four foreign nationals are currently detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending their deportation.
