Holiday auction presents festive, giftable art

Teasing the season in time for the holidays, Casa de Memoria’s Auction Segundo features 235 lots of “giftable” art and antique pieces set for 26 November.

The Lhuillier-run auction house will be home this season for important “history pieces,” from the 18th-century painting of the Annunciation after Barocci (Lot 158), down to Baccarat crystal figures of the Three Magi (Lot 147). Casa Segundo also includes celebrated European porcelain and crystal brands, as well as historically-important Philippine prints, Chinese export porcelain, other Orientalia and more.

A total of 235 Lots is now open for preview until the 25 November. Featured are pieces meticulously selected by Miguel Rosales, The Casa’s creative director:

Vieux Parisien Porcelain Coffee Set. French, 19th century. Parcel-gilt and hand-painted with polychromed flowers. P40,000.

Casa de Memoria’s preview will be at the Palacio de Memoria — recipient of NCCA’s 2020 Philippine Heritage Award for adaptive reuse, built during the Commonwealth Period — the once sea side estate that survived the carpet bombing of Manila. A visit to the Palacio itself is filled with history.

Coimbra Blue-and-white Armorial Plate Napoleon III Gilded Wooden Frame Portuguese faience, circa 17th century. Marked. P8,000.

Online auction is on 26 November, Saturday, 2pm onwards. Casa de Memoria is the auction house of Palacio de Memoria, located along Roxas Boulevard in Parañaque City.
