Tourist rest site soon on Kennon Road

BAGUIO CITY — The Baguio City Planning and Development Office revealed that the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority and the Baguio City Government will be soon construct a tourist rest area along the stretch of Kennon road within the city's jurisdiction.

The said project is hoped to boost and provide more tourist attractions in the city particularly in Kennon Road. The establishment will be located just near the famous Lion's Head.

According to CPDO chief Donna R. Tabangin, TIEZA will be giving P7 million to fund the proposed tourist rest area structure. The city government will provide some P5 million as a counterpart.

Tabangin said the city government will be entering into a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. This is to allow the usage of the area as the site for the proposed tourist center is a titled property of the agency. The decision from the DENR is yet to be issued.

She explained that the said tourist rest area will feature a pasalubong center, an information center, a view deck and toilets for the visitors wanting to drop by the area and have a view of the whole stretch of the scenic zigzag road from its highest elevation.
