Marikina jobs growth rate up 30%

Marikina City has recovered the jobs and opportunities it lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic, thereby making it one of the most improved cities in terms of competitiveness, Mayor Marcelino Teodoro told Daily Tribune.

"We have seen the growth of industries in Marikina, not only in numbers, but in terms of generation of employment," Teodoro said over the weekend.

He said the efficient delivery of public service propped their being chosen by the Department of Trade and Industry as one of the most improved LGUs during the recently concluded 10th Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Summit 2022.

"Secondly, we have a one-stop-shop in the processing of business permits and we practically and effectively implement ease of doing business," Teodoro added.

He said the city's employment growth has reached between 25 to 30 percent since the easing of Covid restrictions with the arrival of the vaccines against the virus which first appeared in Wuhan, China in 2019.

"In addition to that, because of the commercial ventures and the manufacturing and production, maybe we can improve by at least 15 to 30 percent in terms of employment," the mayor added.
