The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested a fake dentist for practicing illegal dentistry during a sting operation in Quezon City.

CIDG director Brig. Gen. Lee identified the suspect as Ramiro Gando Salonga alias “Jojo,” who was nabbed by authorities in Franco Street, Barangay Bagbag in Novaliches, Quezon City.

The operation stemmed from an information and complaint from the Philippine Dental Association that the suspect was doing a dental home service and practicing illegal dentistry on his residence located in Barangay Bagbag.

Prior to the operation, a certification from the PDA was signed by the PDA president Dr. Cheryl del Rosario certifying that the suspect does not appear in the official records of membership in the PDA and is not allowed to practice dentistry.

Acting on the information, operatives of CIDG NCR together with the representative of Philippine Dental Association-Manila Chapter conducted the entrapment operation.

A police operative who acted as a patient was able to purchase a made to order, cheap orthodontic false teeth for the price of P700 and after the suspect received the marked money, operatives rushed to the scene to assist the poseur patient and arrest the suspect.

Upon his arrest, the suspect failed to show his license from the PRC that he is allowed to practice dentistry, a clear violation of Republic Act 9484, An Act to Regulate the Practice of Dentistry, Dental Hygiene and Dental Technology in the Philippines.
