US Vice President Kamala Harris will be in the Philippines for three days after participating in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand from 18 to 19 November.

Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Teresita Daza announced this during a press briefing in Malacañang on Monday but details of Harris's trip will be disclosed in due course.

"The Philippines, of course, welcomes the visit of the Vice President to Manila as it will provide another opportunity to further strengthen engagement, our engagement with the US following high-level meetings in the past," Daza said.

The second top US leader will be traveling with her husband, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, according to Daza.

Daza made the announcement when asked if President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will meet Harris and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the APEC 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The DFA, however, said bilateral meetings that the President will attend on the sidelines of the summit are still being finalized.

The White House earlier said Harris will be visiting the Philippines to "re-affirm and strengthen the US-Philippines Alliance and underscore the breadth of our cooperation as friends, partners, and allies."

The Second Gentleman led the seven-member US delegation to Marcos's inauguration on 30 June.
