Whatever happened to the killing of lawyer Benjamin Ramos Jr. in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental on 6 November 2018?
"Not one has been held accountable for Ben's murder," so said Atty. Ere Olalia. "The hitmen are still unidentified, the masterminds remain unscathed, and there has been no progress in the investigation into his killing."
Ramos, Olalia said, was killed "after the incessant red-tagging and vilification that he was subjected to in Negros Occidental" as one of the founders of the National Union of Peoples' Lawyers.
Since 2018, two NUPL members had been killed, Olalia, the group's current leader, added.
Ramos was the counsel of the families inside the Hacienda Nene plantation in Sagay City, Negros Occidental when nine sugar workers were killed, he said.
