CASTILLEJOS, Zambales — The Department of Public Works and Highways in Zambales completed the P29.99-million, two-storey six-classroom school building at the San Nicolas Primary School here.
According to 2nd District Engineering Office district Engineer Rosbe S. Dizon, the completion of the facility will provide students with a more comfortable classroom setting and a better learning environment now that face-to-face classes have resumed.
"The construction of the new school building was completed on time despite the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, and with these additional classrooms, the school will be able to meet the needs of its growing student population," Dizon said.
The school building also features four toilets for boys and girls, two bathrooms for those with physical disabilities, and two hand washing stations to maintain good hygiene practices.
"To ensure the safety of the students, we also included in this project the construction of a 12-meter slope protection structure with a gabion foundation to stabilize the banks of a pond located within the school premises," Dizon said.
Pond banks should be adequately protected against possible erosion as this will help to prevent accidents involving children.
