San Juan City received awards at the recently-concluded 2022 Urban Governance Exemplar Awards given by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

The city was recognized as a Child Friendly Local Government Unit for its exemplary performance in the delivery of services for children garnering an over-all rating of 91.05 percent in the 2019 audit and 89.64 percent in the 2021 audit.

"Despite the pandemic hitting us hard, we really worked hard to provide exemplary services to our constituents. San Juan City distributed 19 waves of ayuda to make sure none of our constituents go hungry, and we provided tablets to all our public school students plus fiber optic internet connection to all households of our public school students in the city so that no child is left behind in terms of quality education," San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said.

San Juan also received plaques in the following categories: Functional Local Peace and Order Council, Moderately Functional Anti-Drug Abuse Council, Ideal Functionality Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking and Violence against Women and Children, and, Moderate Compliance in the Local Government Unit Compliance Audit for the Manila Bay Cleanup Rehabilitation and Preservation Program.
