Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. recently met with Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Toshikazu Yamane and U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific Division Commander Maj. Gen. Benjamin Watson, respectively.

Brawner reaffirmed the Philippines-Japan ground forces relations during the International Land Defence Exposition — Australia's biggest defense sector exhibit — in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 5 October, and committed to sustain their existing military ties.

The PA noted that the JGDSF has become one of its key partners in improving the disaster-response capabilities of Filipino soldiers.

Brawner and Watson, meanwhile, discussed further possible areas of cooperation between the US and the Philippines.
