Beefing up the roster is one of the things newly-appointed NLEX coach Frankie Lim wants to address and he is looking at retooling the Road Warriors by getting a few more key players — without giving any specific positions.

Lim attended the first day of practice on Thursday but mostly observed how the team is being run by interim coach Adonis Tierra.

Tierra was Lim's former teammate with Hills Brothers Coffee in 1987, the brand being carried by Alaska then. The former will handle the Road Warriors in their first two games, which will allow the new coach to get settled first before he makes his return to actual coaching.

Just recently, the Road Warriors underwent changes in their roster, beginning with the coaching change which saw Yeng Guiao leaving the team after handling the squad for seven seasons.

A few days after parting ways with Guiao, NLEX also unloaded two key players — promising sophomore Calvin Oftana and hardworking big man Raul Soyud — and eventually earned 6-foot-7 top overall rookie pick Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser.

Lim believes making changes could be the start of significant progress for the Road Warriors.
