Two prisoners died in contaminated water in Laguna
Two persons deprived of liberty (PDL) died at the Cabuyao City Jail in Laguna due to diarrhea, according to Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) this Thursday.
On the other hand, BJMP spokesperson Xavier Solda confirmed that the outbreak is under control.
BJMP data revealed that 63 PDLs fell ill due to contaminated water inside the jail facility.
Twenty-nine of the affected PDLs were advised to continue receiving medical treatment.
The local government of Cabuyao provided the detention facility with mineral water and water dispensers to fight the outbreak.
Water filters are also installed in the faucets.
BJMP chief Allan Iral instructed the health service and the warden to keep a close eye on the PDLs and make sure that diarrhea outbreaks do not happen again.
