NBI ‘striker’ nabbed for extortion

The Southern Police District on Sunday announced the arrest of an alleged confidential agent of the National Bureau of Investigation and his "cohort" for extortion and obstruction of justice.

The arrested suspects were identified as Larry Marbid, 48, and driver Laurence de los Tria, 39 years old.

Marbid is facing a complaint for robbery and extortion while De los Tria will be charged with obstructing justice.

The two were arrested in an entrapment operation near a fastfood chain located along Gil Puyat corner Taft Avenue, Pasay City at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

A 25-year-old female victim filed the complaint against Marbid for extorting the amount of P250,000 in exchange for the release of two Chinese nationals already rescued earlier.

It was not clear why the charge filed by the police against Marbid was not for kidnapping.

Recovered from Marbid were the P3,000 marked money and the P247,000 boodle or fake money.

De los Tria was arrested when he tried to intervene as Marbid was being arrested by the SPD cops.
