Season 6 of The Crown has resumed production amid the death of Queen Elizabeth II — whose reign is the subject of the historical drama TV series.

However, shooting will pause on the date of the monarch's funeral on 19 September, a source at Netflix told Deadline.

Her remains are lying in state for four days at Westminster Hall.

The Crown's season 5 features Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth; Dominic West, Prince Charles; Jonathan Pryce, Prince Philip; Lesley Manville Princess Margaret; Jonny Lee Miller, Prime Minister John Major; and Elizabeth Debicki, Princess Diana.

The season focuses on the royal family's early-to-mid-1990s life, particularly the rocky marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana before she died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

Three actors have portrayed Queen Elizabeth II thus far: Claire Foy for seasons 1 and 2; Olivia Colman for seasons 3 and 4; and Imelda Staunton for season 5 which premieres in November.
