To celebrate its 10th year anniversary, the St. Luke's Medical Center Foundation Inc. — in coordination with St. Luke Medical Center — conducted a medical mission for persons deprived of liberty at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Taguig City recently.

A team of doctors with various specialties, nurses and staff, generously gave their time to render medical services to a total of 160 preselected patients.

Treated PDLs and guards headed by the Jail Superintendent Lloyd Gonzaga expressed their gratitude as SLMC is the first hospital to have held a medical mission at the BJMP in Taguig City since enhanced community quarantine, March 2020.

Since it was founded on 28 August 2012, SLMCFI has held annual medical missions to serve marginalized patients. These outreach programs play a vital role in the continuing mission of SLMC's growing commitment in improving the quality of healthcare services.

"The commitment to provide medical services for our patients does not limit itself to our admitted patients," Dr. Benjamin Campomanes, president of SLMCFI said.

"We go beyond, and this kind of project is a testament to SLMC's proactive and pragmatic approach to continue giving quality healthcare to everyone, especially to communities with limited access to it," he added.

The event was also attended by Dr. Bernice C. Navarro (head of Outpatient Services), Isabelo Urmatam Jr. (associate director for Medical Social Services and Outpatient Services), Leia Michelle Regala-Teodoro (SLMCFI program director), Nina Mirrela Bautista (SLMCFI foundation manager) and Lalyn Eso Vitalez (SLMCFI Resource Development manager).

On top of medical consultations for illnesses such as hypertension, asthma and arthritis, the beneficiaries also received products and some necessities that they can use for their everyday personal hygiene donated by the SLMC Women's Board and UNILAB.
