DepEd mulls new K-12 curriculum

DepEd mulls new K-12 curriculum

The Department of Education is planning to implement the new curriculum of the Kindergarten to Grade 12 Program in the next two to three years, Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Z. Duterte said.

Duterte said they are done with the review of the new curriculum and have presented it to the agency's management committee and executive committee.

"We will also present it to other sectors and from the government and the private sector as well," said Duterte during the hearing on the proposed P2.3 billion budget of the Office of Vice President before the House appropriations panel on Wednesday.

She added that the Education department is currently starting with the review of the Senior High School or Grades 11 and 12 curriculums.

"It will go through the same process and it will go through presentations. So, all the comments and suggestions from all the sectors can be collated by the Department of Education and we come up with the new curriculum for the K to 12 program," Duterte said.

She, however, stressed that it would take two to three years for them to implement the new curriculum for the K to 12 program.

"I was and I am trying to push the curriculum and instruction strands to do it in one yea. We will update you on that if we will be able to implement a new curriculum in a year or two. We're talking about a academic school year," she said.
