Mandaluyong City and the town of San Andres, Catanduanes have embraced sisterhood in a simple ceremony Monday presided over by their respective mayors, Benjamin Abalos and Leo Mendoza.

During the flag ceremony at the Mandaluyong City Hall, Abalos and Mendoza presented the resolutions to effect the sisterhood of cooperation signed by the councils of their respective local government units.

In his speech, Abalos lauded the people of Bicol for their generosity and hospitality in welcoming visitors, including those from Mandaluyong. He said he'd promote San Andres as a tourism destination for his constituents.

"San Andres offers a lot, including its sea where the most expensive kind of (the fish) lapu-lapu can be found," Abalos said, recounting his first visit to San Andres in 1952.

Mendoza, for his part, thanked Abalos and Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos for hosting their delegation to what is dubbed Metro Manila's Tiger City.
