DPWH eyes Central Luzon flood control program

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Department of Public Works and Highways is developing a design plan for the flood control program in Central Luzon to address the issue of flooding especially in the provinces of Pampanga and Bulacan.

This comes after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the agency to address the flooding in the two provinces.

Accordingt to Senior Undersecretary Emil Sadain, the agency has commissioned the Woodfields Consultants Inc. to create a plan for the Pampanga River Basin in Central Luzon, one of the areas frequently affected by flooding.

Sadain said that the firm has stated the need to create a plan for Central Luzon-Pampanga River Floodway Flood Control Project with retarding swamp in San Antonio Swamp and the Pampanga Delta Development Program Phase 2.

The discussion was conducted at the satellite office of DPWH Unified Project Management Office-Flood Control Management Cluster in Sulipan, Apalit, Pampanga.
