MMDA turns over Hulong Duhat park

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority unveiled and turned over to the Malabon City local government the Hulong Duhat Plaza in Malabon City as part of its Adopt-a-Park project.

The inauguration and lighting of the park was led by MMDA acting chairperson Engr. Carlo Dimayuga III and Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval Thursday night.

"The MMDA hopes to provide safe and clean areas for family events and recreational activities, which are both equally necessary to the physical and mental health of the public," Dimayuga said.

"We will also help in the promotion of urban development and community engagement to address urban decay," he added.

Aside from the plaza, the agency is also rehabilitating the Malabon People's Park in Barangay Catmon. Sandoval thanked the MMDA for rehabilitating the park.

"The Hulong Duhat Plaza is now our space to interact, make friends, and enjoy physical activities," Sandoval said.

"Our city is always looking forward to partnering with the MMDA, especially in its Adopt-A-Park project. Rest assured that the local government of Malabon will do its part to further develop the spaces and ensure safety for everyone," she further said.

The Hulong Duhat Plaza covers around 1,500 square meters and has a colorful water play fountain, solar floor lights, tables and benches for chess or dama, steel swings, kiddie riders, and a seesaw.

The plaza also has open spaces for zumba and traditional Filipino games such as piko, patintero, luksong baka, and tumbang preso.

Under the Adopt-A-Park project, the LGU shall propose the location, design, and cost estimate for a park, while the MMDA sets the criteria for site selection, provides funding, and implements the construction of the project.
