Smuggled luxury  vehicle seized

The Bureau of Customs Port of Davao said it has intercepted the entry of a luxury car believed to be smuggled into the country.

Reports from the BoC-Davao said the discovery of the smuggled luxury vehicle stemmed from the intelligence report from the Philippine National Police-Sasa Police Station.

Operatives from the BoC and local police immediately conducted joint physical examination together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency XI and Seaport Interdiction Unit on 1 September.

During the inspection of the container van, authorities discovered used automobile parts concealed a white Porsche 911 GT3 RS with an estimated value of P15,308,486.14.

BoC-Davao district collector, Atty. Erastus Sandino Austria, immediately issued an alert order against the subject shipment and a Warrant of Seizure and Detention against the shipment for violation of Section 1400 concerning Section 1113 of R.A. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

Austria said based on its documents, the shipment was consigned to JJCTD Import and Export Trading Corp. It arrived in the country on 31 August 2022 from Japan.
