Canlaon micro -entrepreneurs get needed aid

Senator Christopher Lawrence 'Bong' Go reaffirmed his unhampered support to the livelihood sector as he sent his team to provide assistance to hundreds of small business owners in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.

The senator's team gave away masks, snacks and shirts to 400 micro-entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, they also provided shoes, computer tablets, bicycles, and balls for basketball and volleyball to select individuals.

A team from the Department of Social Welfare and Development likewise extended livelihood assistance grants to each business owner while the Department of Trade and Industry gave livelihood support to qualified entrepreneurs.

Lastly, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority granted scholarships to potential individuals based on the team's evaluation.

In his video message, Go vowed that he will continue to support government programs and measures to boost livelihood opportunities in the country and encouraged those unvaccinated yet qualified beneficiaries to get their complete shots against Covid-19 as vaccines play a vital role to the country's economic recovery.

The lawmaker also urged those with health concerns to visit the Malasakit Center at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City where they can easily avail of the medical assistance from relevant agencies.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop which brings together national agencies, such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, to assist particularly poor and indigent patients in reducing their medical expenses to the lowest amount possible.
