If the name Chanty rings a bell, it's because she had previously signed up with Star Magic and appeared on three ABS-CBN shows in 2019 and 2020.

Now the 19-year-old Filipino-Argentine is part of the six-women group Lapillus, which is releasing an EP, Gratata, on 22 September.

Gratata is described to have a Moombahton (electronic dance music) sound and addictive hooks.

Lapillus — whose other members are Japanese leader Shana (19) and Koreans Yue (18), Bessie (18), Seowon (15) and Haeun (13) — is in the Philippines for a two-week promotion of its digital single "Hit Ya!"

The track's music video currently has 10 million views.

"Really happy, humbled, and blessed. I have many words to describe what I'm feeling right now," Chanty said in a media conference on 5 September.

Lapillus, Chanty said in past media interviews, is a Latin word that refers to a jewel that can emit different colors.

Chanty — born Chantal Videla — is said to have been training since November 2021 with MLD Entertainment, the same agency that launched Momoland. A typical training day for Chanty starts at 11 a.m. with Korean class, health class and singing and dancing.

"I am still learning po and I am proud to say that I have improved quite a lot in the span of eight months. But there is still a long way to go for me," she said.

"What I like about our group is, all of us are different in a way… We have a different way of expressing ourselves while performing, and I think that's what makes our performance more interesting."

Lapillus is kicking off its promotional schedule with multi-platform interviews, photo shoots, TV, radio and online appearances, with live performances and charity work.

It will culminate with fan meets on 10 September at Market! Market! and 11 September at Ayala Fairview Terraces.

MLD Entertainment is also home to the boy group T1419.
