The Bureau of Corrections provided booster shots against the coronavirus disease 2019 to more than 10,000 persons deprived of liberty booster shots under the government's "Pinaslakas" nationwide vaccination campaign.
The booster shots were given to ensure the health and safety of the inmates under the supervision of the bureau.
In a report submitted to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, BuCor said a total of 705 PDLs were vaccinated at the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm Central Compound in Occidental Mindoro.
The report said majority of the said PDLs received their 1st and 2nd booster shots of Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines.
On the other hand, a total of 9,877 PDLs from the New Bilibid Prison Maximum Security Camp were given booster shots at the Inmates Visitation Services Unit in Muntinlupa City.
The inmates received AstraZeneca, Moderna and Sinovac vaccine brands. The BuCor, through the office of the Directorate for Health Services, facilitated the vaccination of booster shots with the assistance of the Local Government of Muntinlupa City and the Department of Health which also provided the vaccines.
