MIMAROPA police chief  eyes 1-M trees by yearend

Police Regional Office 4B Director Brig. Gen. Sidney Hernia Saturday reaffirmed his target to plant at least 1 million trees in the region by the end of 2022.

The police eco-warriors' chief further revealed that all police units of PRO MIMAROPA, comprised of five Police Provincial Offices, one City Police Office, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and the Regional Headquarters, have already planted 726,718 trees as of 31 August.

"We just need to plant a total of 273,282 seedlings before the end of December or 45,558 seedlings per month within a period of 4 months in order to attain 1M trees target, " Hernia said.

"Aside from intensifying our tree planting efforts, we will be more aggressive in our campaign against illegal logging activities and violations of the environmental laws," Hernia added.

Records from the Regional Operations Division revealed that PRO MIMAROPA had accomplished a total of 215 police operations which resulted in the arrest of 216 personalities and confiscation of 42,244.57 board feet of assorted lumbers worth Php 1,654,747.14 from 1 January to 31 August 2022.
