Ateneo Davao gets SC bar site marker

Three Supreme Court associate justices led the unveiling of the historical marker of Ateneo de Davao University as a local testing site of the 2020/2021 Bar examinations a few days ago at the Community Center of the First Companions, Roxas City Avenue, Davao City.

The unveiling of the said marker was graced by Senior Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando and Justice Antonio T. Kho Jr.

The said SC associate justices were joined by AdDU officials Jeremy S. Eliab, AdDU executive vice president; Atty. Jazzie M. Sarona-Lozare, AdDU College of Law Assistant Dean; Atty. Manuel P. Quibod, AdDu College of Law Dean; and Rev. Fr. Joel R. Tabor, S.J., AdDU president.

Senior Associate Justice Leonen, chairperson of the 2020/2021 Bar Examinations, expressed his gratitude to the AdDU for graciously offering its facilities and services in the conduct of the country's first regionalized and digitalized Bar Examinations.

"You made 'The Best Bar Ever' even more advanced, more accessible, and, more importantly, more compassionate," said Senior Associate Justice Leonen.

"The historical marker we award and unveil is signed by all the Justices of the Supreme Court. It should hopefully serve as a fitting reminder of what happened here, and an inspiration for those that will come after us," he added.

Justice Hernando, chairperson of the 2023 Bar Examinations, revealed that the forthcoming Bar Examinations will continue to be digitalized and regionalized. He likewise thanked the AdDu community "for a very fruitful and productive collaboration with the Court" in the conduct of the 2020/2021 Bar Examinations.

Also present during the unveiling ceremonies was Deputy Court Administrator Leo T. Madrazo, an AdDU alumnus, who presented a framed Supreme Court 2020/2021 Bar Examinations shirt as a token to his alma mater.

The 2020/2021 Bar Examinations were held on 4 February and 6 February 2022 in 29 local testing sites across 22 local government units nationwide. A total of 8,241 of the 11,402 who took and completed the tests passed the said Bar Examinations.
