Baguio city's Mayor Benjamin Magalong, US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson and the city's lone district Congressman Mark Go at the Baguio Convention Center on September 1. Amb. Carlson was the special guest at the celebration of the 113th Charter Day anniversary of Baguio city.

Amb. Carlson shared that the United States has a long history in Baguio, 'reflected in many streets, parks and landmarks named after Americans. But while the names are American, it is clear that this beautiful city is distinctly Filipino. We are building a positive future together in Baguio, and throughout the Philippines but we are also rising to meet future challenges.'

Among the institutions the US Embassy works with include the Philippine Military Academy, Baguio City Public Library, Baguio Museum and St. Louis University (SLU).
