The Public Attorney's Office strongly urged President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to discontinue the second booster shot to the general population due to suspected adverse reports.
This was the call of PAO chief Persida Acosta and forensic expert Dr. Erwin Erfe Friday at the PAO office in Quezon City when they faced the media to air their opposition to Covid-19 vaccination.
Documents provided by PAO showed that as of 25 July 2022 some 4,627 suspected adverse reaction reports were received.
The report stated that 569 were tagged as serious and 4,058 reports were tagged as non-serious.
The document stated that the most common reported adverse reaction includes vaccination/injection site pain, pyrexia, headache, malaise and blood pressure increase.
Last 25 July 2022, the document stated that the rollout for the second booster was rolled out for the immunocompromised population, wherein the vaccine authorized by the food and Drug Administration for second booster are Comirnaty, Spikevax, CoronaVac, Sinopharm and Vaxzevria.
The second booster shots, the report said, shall be administered at least four months after the first booster shot.
"As of 25 July 2022, 643 suspected adverse reaction reports were received: 31 reports were tagged as serious and 612 reports were tagged as non-serious. The most common reported adverse reaction includes vaccination/injection site pain, headache, pyrexia, malaise and chills," the report said.
The government aiming to increase Covid-19 vaccination coverage nationwide launched the first wave of Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Vaccination Days last 29 November to 2 December 2021.
The second and third wave were held last 15 to 22 December 2021 and 10 to 18 February 2022, respectively, followed by the fourth wave last 10 to 18 March 2022 with extensions in other regions.
During the said vaccination, Acosta said reports of suspected adverse reaction were monitored and continuously reported and evaluated together will all other reports.
With this Acosta strongly called on PBBM to stop the administration of the second booster shot because it doesn't guarantee that one can be immune from Covid-19.
