The Bureau of Corrections yesterday said that some 10,000 persons deprived of liberty at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City received their booster shots against Covid-19, last August.
The bureau disclosed that the boosters were administered to the PDLs last 4, 5, 8 and 10 Aug.
The BuCor said that as the Covid-19 continues to circulate globally, the booster shot activity manifests that they are not only focusing on its mandate of safekeeping and reformation but also giving importance to the health of every inmate at the NBP.
It also made an assurance that under the leadership of Director General Gerald Q. Bantag, Bucor is always ready to improve the health system of the Prison Facilities for the well-being of their clientele, the PDLs.
The vaccination drive was conducted by the BuCor's Directorate for Health Services headed by Corrections Chief Supt. Henry N. Fabro with the help of the Inmates Visitation Services Unit and the Health Office of Muntinlupa City.
Earlier, BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag said BuCor's PDLs have been free from Covid-19 since last January.
Chaclag said since 30 January 2022 there have been zero Covid-19 cases among the PDLs and prison staff.
