8 fishermen missing after boat collision in Palawan

Eight fishermen went missing after their boat collided with a cargo vessel on 28 May, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported.
The PCG Command Center said it received information that MV Happy Hiro, a cargo vessel sailing under the flag of Marshall Islands, at around 5 pm on 28 May, hit a Filipino fishing boat in the waters off Maracanao Island, Agutaya, Palawan.
A rescue team was sent to conduct search operations.
The PCG District Palawan said that out of 21 crew onboard the Filipino fishing boat, 13 were rescued by fishing boat BAL 5, while eight of the crew are still missing.
The 13 rescued were transferred to MV Happy Hiro, which proceeded to Lipata, Culasi, Antique.
MRRV 4406 BRP Suluan, together with rescue teams from Coast Guard Station Cuyo and Sub Station Agutay in Iloilo, are conducting seach and rescue operations.
