Ronnie Alonte has something to prove.

In a recent media conference, the male lead star of the coming ABS-CBN series Love in 40 Days said he wants to convince people “I can act.”

Starting out as a dancer of the Hashtag on It’s Showtime, Alonte went on to be cast on Maalaala Mo Kaya, as well as in the movies Vince and Kath and James, Seklusyon, Bloody Crayons, among others.

Along with the opportunities came negative criticism. It affected him, but now he said he feels good about himself.

Loisa Andalio, his girlfriend and Love in 40 Days co-star, acknowledged the remarkable “character development” she has noticed in Alonte.

“I’m really proud of who he is now. It’s not really because of me… It’s because he wants to do this for himself. Our projects before weren’t that serious. Love in 40 Days made me see how Ronnie is really dedicated to his craft,” said Andalio, former housemate in Pinoy Big Brother.

Love in 40 Days is about Jane Marasigan (Andalio) who is set up in a fatal car crash. Her ghost roams around and meets Edward Montemayor (Alonte), whose third eye allows him to see her.

The series also stars Chie Filomeno, Ahron Villena, Trina Legaspi, Lotlot de Leon, Mylene Dizon, Leo Martinez, Ana Abad Santos, among others.

Love in 40 Days is directed by Manny Palo and Jojo Saguin. It premieres on 30 May at 10 p.m. on the Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5 and Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
