Acting Mayor Sebastian Duterte has signed the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of a city ordinance honoring the centenarians of the city.
The IRR makes it easier for senior citizens breaching 100 years of age to claim their special gifts from the national and city government.
City Ordinance 0727-21, Entitled “An Order Honoring Centenarians In The City of Davao, aims to recognize and honor Davao centenarians by granting them a cash incentive of P100,000 each, on top of other incentives and perks given to them by the national government.
Barangay captains or barangay social workers are mandated to submit every last week of January beginning in 2021 the list of centenarians and those who are 99 years old in their areas.
The executive order implementing the IRR provides that in case of incapacity, the submission of documents may be done by a representative of the centenarian, a relative who shall have a notarized certificate of authorization.
The release and awarding of incentives shall be held during the National Respect For Centenarian’s Day every first Sunday of October every year or during the centenarian’s 100th birthday, whichever comes first.
