At their contract signing for Descendants of the Sun: The Philippine Adaptation, Dantes acknowledged GMA Network as the place where he met his future wife.

When they built their own home, Dantes recalled, he and Rivera had the idea to shoot small videos dubbed Jose at Maria.

The 41-year-old actor explained why it’s great to work with his wife: “She’s professional and very creative. She’s dedicated to her work, even if we’re only doing mini videos. That’s how we decided to bring this to the next level.”

The couple, also known by their love team moniker DongYan, will co-produce and star in the sitcom Jose & Maria’s Bonggang Villa. It marks their TV comeback in 10 years since the series My Beloved in 2012.

Rivera said: “This is one of our dream projects. I haven’t appeared on primetime in a long time. I cannot believe my dreams are finally coming true.”

Dingdong added: “For us, this isn’t just work or a task. This is very personal because this is our dream — to work with each other again, to be part of a show that we are also creating.”

A report on online news site said the couple’s children might also appear on the show.

“Nothing is impossible. We haven’t talked about it but since it’s been brought up, we will talk about it now,” said Dantes.

The show, a co-production of GMA and APT Entertainment, also stars Benjie Paras, Hershey Neri, Jamir Zabarte, Johnny Revilla, Loujude Gonzalez, Mike “Pekto” Nacua, Pinky Amador, Shamaine Buencamino and Zonia Mejia.

Jose & Maria’s Bonggang Villa is directed by John Lapus. It premiered on 14 May and airs every Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
