Senator Christopher “Bong” Go heralded the last elections as a rousing success and urged all Filipinos to rally behind the incoming administration of presumptive President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio.
He expressed hope that the Marcos Jr. administration “will build on the gains of the Duterte administration” with the “support and cooperation of our citizenry.”
“We pray that the next term will continue to provide a safer and more comfortable life for all. Do not forget that the government’s success is the success of every single Filipino,” Go said.
The senator stressed that while some election-related violence and incidents had been reported, the exercise had been “successful and generally peaceful.”
Go added that the people have spoken and those engaged in political recriminations must set aside their differences as the “country needs our solidarity more than ever.”
“As for President Duterte and I, we continue with our promise to serve in any capacity that we can. While the President has already announced that he is readying himself for more private life in Davao City, I am certain that he will continue with his personal advocacy to help other people in need,” he said.
Go said that he has not stopped going around the country to help indigent Filipinos cope with poverty and the ill effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
