HANOI, Vietnam – Carlos Yulo won’t have the luxury of rest and relaxation until his ultimate mission is accomplished.
After his stint in the 31st Southeast Asian Games here, Yulo will fly out and head back to Tokyo to resume his training for two major meets aimed at qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“He will compete in Doha in July and in October in Liverpool,” gymnastics president Cynthia Carrion said after Yulo won a gold in the all-around and the team event settled for silver on Friday.
“He can’t afford to take a break because it doesn’t do any good physically,” Carrion said, recalling an incident a few years ago when Yulo paid his parents a visit after a long absence.
