Paul Soriano, the director and producer behind the television commercials and stage production campaign of presumptive President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., is being rewarded for his efforts.
Daily Tribune learned from sources that Soriano — whose wife, celebrity Toni Gonzaga, was the lead performing artist at Marcos’ campaign rallies — is being offered to head either the Department of Tourism (DoT) or the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
“They don’t even have to ask. I’ll be there for whatever it is I can do for him… It’s been an honor to do his commercials and to be part of his campaign,” Soriano told Daily Tribune.
Marcos stood as godfather at the wedding of Soriano and Gonzaga in 2015.
The 40-year-old Soriano revealed on Instagram that his father, Jeric, and Marcos’ wife, Lisa Araneta, are first cousins.
Jeric Soriano — son of matinee idol Nestor de Villa — is said to have also helped in Marcos’ campaign when he ran for governor in Ilocos Norte.
Paul brushed aside the question if he would like to enter politics, too. Instead, he said he feels more at home doing movies.
Soriano’s production company, TEN17P, was behind the movies A Journey Home, Thelma, Transit, Dagitab, Mariquina, Kid Kulafu, Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis, Dukot, Siargao, First Love, Mary, Marry Me, Mañanita, Sunod and Alter Me.
“I’ll support people I believe and if they want to work with me, I’ll always be open to that,” Soriano said.
