Former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. will head the Department of the Interior and Local Government under the incoming administration of presumptive president Bongbong Marcos.
Bongbong’s spokesperson Vic Rodriguez made the announcement to the media on Friday.
Aside from being previously serving as mayor in Mandaluyong City, Abalos was the presidential race front-runner’s national campaign manager alongside House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, Bongbong’s cousin.
Rodriguez said Abalos already accepted the offer.
He also announced that he, Abalos, former Davao del Norte Rep. Anton Lagdameo, former Manila Rep. Naida Angping and South Cotabato Governor Jun Tamayo are among the people in Bongbong’s transition team.
