‘Pulong’ clinches landslide win

Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte is set to maintain his hold for the seat in the congressional district following a landslide victory in the 2022 national and local elections.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s son garnered 211,872 votes based on the partial and unofficial count as of 5:12 p.m. on Tuesday, with 95.32 percent precincts reporting.

The lawmaker’s rivals, Mags Maglana, businessman Jamal Janan and Jovanie Mantawel, trail by a mile as some contenders have already conceded.

“Very thankful. I owe to the people of Davao. Rest assured that our District and Davao will merit. I am here to serve the people of Davao with all my heart,” said Duterte.

The President’s other son – Sebastian Duterte – is also assured for the mayoralty seat of Davao City after gaining a total of 593,064 votes based on partial results or 95.32 percent of election returns submitted to the Commission on Elections.

The incumbent Davao City vice mayor has a huge margin over former Davao City’s 3rd District Representative Atty. Ruy Elias Lopez, who obtained 67,313 votes, Joseph H. Elizalde with 3,004 votes, and Teddy Mantilla with 1,002.
