In observance of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte said he hopes the religious observance will further strengthen spirituality and called for the continuous spread of the divine words and unceasingly preach tolerance, understanding and amity with all.

The lawmaker Duterte described Ramadan as a time for deep reflection, prayer, and contemplation as the country faces challenging and dangerous times brought by the pandemic or a crisis that threatened health and livelihood.

“As we celebrate the occasion, let us take this opportunity to profoundly commune with the almighty and strengthen our religiosity; Let us also seize this opportunity to further strengthen our spirituality, to continuously spread the divine words taught upon us, and to unceasingly preach tolerance, understanding and amity with all,” said Duterte.

On this occasion, let us all remind ourselves – Muslims and non-Muslims alike — that there is a divinity that shapes our ends, and this moment is another chance for us to further strengthen our spirituality by practicing abstinence during the entire observance of the holy Ramadan,” he added.

“To you brothers and sisters, celebrate the occasion freely and peacefully under the powerful guidance of Allah, and be assured that the celebration will be successful as all Dabawenyos are all behind this year’s commemoration. Again, to all our Moslem brothers and sisters, rejoice for it is Ramadan Kareem and Ramadan Mubarak,” Duterte said.
