BATANGAS — Running mates presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday campaigned in vote-rich Batangas.
Marcos and Duterte secured the endorsement of Batangas Governor Herminaldo “Dodo” Mandanas and Vice Governor Mark Leviste.
The tandem held their campaign rally at Balayan Government Center in Balayan town in the morning.
They were accompanied by Balayan Mayor JR Fronda, Batangas Rep. Eileen Ermita-Buhain, Calatagan Mayor Peter Oliver Palacio, among others.
Marcos focused his speech on the movement of unity, and vowed to improve Internet connectivity and lower the prices of electricity in the country.
Meanwhile, Sara called on Filipinos to unite and rise above the challenges brought by Covid-19 pandemic and in addressing poverty in the country.
“We will not be beaten by this pandemic; we will not be vanquished by poverty,” she said in Filipino.
Sara said that the next administration must bring back the jobs that Filipinos lost because of the pandemic.
Apart from campaigning for the entire UniTeam, Sara thanked the Batangueños for supporting her father, Rodrigo Duterte in his presidential campaign in 2016.
“In 2016, my father won for president here in the province of Batangas, the number one ‘barako’ (alpha male) in Davao City,” she said. “Our family thanks you.”
